Ello Poppet - We're Back (From Tour)
Poppetcore is post piratecore post coquette. Think Pirates of the Caribbean meets new romantics meets Agatha the haunted DOLL. It came to me while on tour during a pit stop at the combination Taco Bell and Subway. I felt like a swashbuckling pirate and kept repeating the phrase “ello poppet” in my head. Took a pic of my fit, Agatha in my bag swag. I started to wonder, what exactly is a poppet?
According to Wikepedia:
In folk magic and witchcraft, a poppet (also known as poppit, moppet, mommet or pippy) is a doll made to represent a person, for casting spells on that person or to aid that person through magic.

It’s been a busy busy past couple of weeks! We just got back from freaking TOUR, which was a whirlwind of an adventure. Took a bunch of film pics that are up on Nylon, check out our Tour Diary.

The answer is absolutely not LOL. I actually get this A LOT which is funny because I've never seen the movie (should I? Lmk in the comments). For anyone who’s curious, it’s pronounced Shallow Halo. Like a bby angel’s halo. Hey-low. Inspired by the Cocteau Twins song, Shallow Then Halo.

I'm not sure who named this pedal, but it's basically a uni-vibe -- which is sort of a phaser -- and definitely not a pitch modulating vibrato. Great for watery psychedelic sounds or paired with the right organ, a fairly decent leslie-esque swirl. Apparently, if you open it up there's a trimpot (tiny dial) you can turn and mess with the sound to great effect. I've never tried this because it sounds amazing to me for the $40 I spent on it. These have gotten more rare/expensive, but are still a bargain if you get past how silly it looks (as it's made of plastic not metal).
